Do you suffer from anxiety? Try these four natural anxiety remedies that actually work.
Mindfulness Meditation
Learning how to meditate can completely change your life, making you a much calmer person overall, and when I practice meditation every day, I have no anxiety. I was thrilled when I discovered that mindfulness meditation was super easy. There’s no “right” way to go about meditating. The point is to practice noticing when your mind is wandering and simply bring it back to the present moment.
Exercise
Mixing frequent exercise into my routine has always been a go-to anxiety remedy for me. Since I’ve worked with countless people who suffer with anxiety, I’ve learned early how important exercise is when it comes to maintaining health and wellness. Hit the treadmill or take a power walk. The trick is consistency. When I miss a few days, I definitely notice my anxiety level creeping up.
Chamomile Tea
Sometimes anxiety triggers insomnia — not a fun combo. Whenever I’m going through something stressful in my life, my anxiety and insomnia both seem to come out in full force. Chamomile has long been known for its soothing effects. I’ve found that drinking a few cups of chamomile tea per day (especially at bedtime) helps curb my anxiousness and allows me to get some much-needed rest.
Lavender
Lavender oil is a natural remedy that has worked wonders for my anxiety. I was a little skeptical about trying this method, but my friend who swears by essential oils insisted. She was right: It works! The first time I tried it was the night before a stressful college exam. I was wired and thought I wouldn’t be able to sleep. I put a little lavender oil on my pillowcase as my friend advised, and I did sleep — really well. Now, whether I put some lavender oil in a light bulb diffuser or dab a little on my wrist or pillowcase, the scent of pure lavender truly calms me down.
