5 Ways To Celebrate Without Alcohol

Promotion. Engagement. Holiday. Survived a Monday. No matter what you’re celebrating, it seems like the perfect time to reach for bubbly, pour some wine, splash bourbon on the rocks or sip a martini from a fancy glass. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a little of the cheer (and social lubrication) alcohol can provide. But there’s really no reason why you can’t also celebrate without drinking — especially if the situation calls for sobriety. (And no worries what your friends might think: Turns out, your abstinence might inspire theirs!)

Ready to feel bubbly without the booze? Try these tips:

Go Dancing

Can’t swing or salsa? Just head to a club playing your favorite tunes and move. Don’t want to go out? Roll up your rugs and have a dance party at home. (That way, you won’t have to worry about the general public watching you get down.) Dancing isn’t just joy-inducing; it can also help cut the risk of memory loss — so you can enjoy your celebratory memories for years to come.

Eat A Special Meal

Now’s the time to splurge a little and make reservations at that swank new dinner spot in town. Going alcohol-free will save you calories and cash for fine dining. (But we’re not judging. If you’d prefer homestyle fried chicken or pizza with all the fixin’s, that’s fine, too.) No matter what you eat, take a cue from the French and make the meal an event. Savor each bite — it can help boost your well-being. Mmm mmm good!

Take A Trip

If you’re anything like us, there’s at least one exotic destination on your bucket list. So what are you waiting for? Whether you want to take a solo trip or go with friends or family, travel broadens your perspective and canget your brain out of a rut. And really, who needs a cocktail when viewing Paris from atop the Eiffel Tower? (Even if you just go on a camping trip or meet up with friends in a nearby city for lunch or a night out on the town, a small adventure is still an adventure!)

Scream For Ice Cream

Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you can’t go for an ice-cream run. Feel like a kid again with a scoop or two (go for gelato or frozen yogurt for lower calories) and enjoy a little pleasure boost while you get some calcium. Don’t be shy with the super-festive sprinkles!

Go Somewhere Fun(ny)

Think back to your childhood for inspiration, and hit up an amusement park, go-kart track, sports stadium, paintball field, carnival or music festival. If you’re looking to celebrate at a late-night fun spot, head to a comedy club. Nothing says “good time” like laughter — no matter where you are.
