There has been a very significant development in the guidance for treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in the UK from NICE; the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.
When I wrote the book ‘PTSD Resolution’ I titled it after the charity of the same name and donated a percentage of the income it generated, for several years.
I include a ‘PTSD Resolution treatment profile’ on page 189 of the book which outlines how the imaginal exposure techniques used by their practitioners includes the Rewind Technique which is closely aligned to interventions used by the trauma-focused CBT practitioners recommended by NICE.
I have spent years speaking, writing, blogging and campaigning for better understanding of the Rewind Technique for resolution of PTSD and registered my training company, Fusion Therapeutic Coaching Ltd as a NICE stakeholder with a special interest in PTSD.
Consequently, my opinion as a mental health professional on valid PTSD treatments has been sought and I have been kept informed of updates in recommendations.
Imagine my delight when I received an email from NICE that listed the charity PTSD Resolution alongside Combat Stress, Rethink and the Royal British Legion as ‘organisations that can give more advice and support’ in their ‘information for the public page.
This is a big step forward and the significance should not be underestimated. Now the public will have an information pathway they trust that will take them to up to date advice, support and a treatment plan that really works.
I would like to say well done to everyone who has pushed this forward; to Dr David Muss for his relentless pursuit for recognition of the Rewind Technique for PTSD, for his free professional training and informing videos; to visionaries Jo Griffin and Ivan Tyrell for promoting advanced psychological techniques including Rewind; to all the Human Givens practitioners working so hard to help those in mental distress; and of course, all the Fusion Therapeutic Coaches who are using practical, modern and effective interventions to change lives and to save lives too.
In my book, you are all heroes….
